Most of the letters in this book were written to Miriam's siblings (and some of them were hardly children at the time). She is the Miriam who sent Lewis a picture of Aslan, and yes, the burning episode was an accident. If only the letters to Lewis had been preserved! This collection would have been far more interesting.

For this glorious edition, Pauline Baynes hand-colored the illustrations she had done for the first editions of the series. Miriam remembers wishing they were in color when she was a small child. The first book in the series, "The Magician's Nephew", is dedicated to the Kilmer Family.
 
Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold; C. S. Lewis, Fritz Eichenberg (Illustrator)   Paperback
This may be the best of Lewis's books. It is definitely intended for adults. Fritz Eichenberg is a marvelous illustrator.
