Gail Rose is very generous to the wild birds. (Now I know why I rarely see goldfinches at our timeshare in Basye any more!) I captured the blurred movement of the male goldfinch dashing away from his meal of birdseed. When I examined the image later, I discovered the beautifully sharp second bird in my picture, perfectly camouflaged in the spread of sunflower seeds on a weathered brown table: a dainty little white-throated sparrow. Actually, the lack of goldfinches at our timeshare probably comes from excessive mowing of the dandelions. They don't have a chance to go to seed. |
