49. The mockingbird is from Mayland, but the other three were photographed right near my time-share condo in Chalet High, Basye. We call that tree "the goldfinch tree" because it used to be heavily populated by goldfinches almost every April. They enjoyed the oak flowers and the dandelions that had gone to seed. I'd watch a large patch of golden dandelions in the grass for a while, and all of a sudden one or two of those "dandelions" would fly up into the air! Now we seldom see them in Basye, possibly because they have discovered even richer pickings near by.
