68. The tower from which I took this picture and the previous one was built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps using materials provided by the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce. Having studied both the river itself and the map, I can't figure out how anyone came up with the name "Seven Bends." I admit that I'm not always very good at counting. Can someone enlighten me? I don't know whether to count only the northwest bends, only the southeast bends, or both, and I don't know when to start or stop counting.
